Player FM for Android 4.9 Revamped Discover and Import screens, bug fixes plus more
More new features are introduced this month for you. Player FM for Android 4.9 now has the same Discover screen as what iOS has. Import screens have also been much improved and additional bug fixes have been carried out to give you a better podcast listening experience. Here’s the rundown of what you’re getting from the newest update of the podcast app you love (thanks by the way for your continued support!).
We have just redesigned the Discover screen to offer you a more diverse range of recommended podcasts to add to your subscriptions. One of the changes you’ll see is the swipeable episode slider at the top, which also rotates automatically, showing you different episodes you may be interested in. You’ll still see the episode list like what we had previously, plus you’ll get to see the topics as mini-pills on this screen. If you scroll down further, you’ll see carousels of podcast series and more episode lists.
Importing podcasts from other apps has never been this easy
The redesigned Import screen now gives you a nicer layout which lets you manage importing in just a single tab. We also made it simpler for you to copy subscriptions from other apps. A quick option to add to Player FM will be available once you are ready to import subscriptions from other apps.
Improved full player screen
Full player screen has been improved. The bottom info now shows the number of episodes on the series, which when tapped, will open the series detail screen. Also, when you tap on the episode thumbnail, it now opens the interactive player where you can see the episode description. And lastly, if you want to open the episode detail screen, simply tap on the 3-dot menu on the upper-right. All these improvements will provide more control on the full player so you can enjoy listening to your favorite podcasts even more.
New toggle to manage downloading while roaming
A new toggle has been added to the Downloads screen to give you more control at managing downloads while roaming, and avoiding unnecessary charges from your mobile provider. This will let you decide whether to use mobile data for downloading podcasts while roaming, or disable it if you don’t prefer so.
